Improve your smile
Porcelain Veneers and Crowns for front teeth
Now, a dashing smile is not just the property of a Hollywood star. You too can have your discoloured, cracked or misshapen front teeth re-contoured and reshaped to give you the confidence of a bright smile.
WHAT ARE VENEERS?
Porcelain Veneers (laminates) are thin, custom made porcelain ‘shells’ permanently bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their colour, shape and to give a spectacular lift to your smile. There is no reduction in the strength of the tooth.
WHY HAVE VENEERS?
Veneers are designed to transform teeth that are poorly shaped or permanently stained, uneven or have noticeable ugly fillings.
HOW IS THE TREATMENT DONE?
A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth and the veneer is then made in a dental laboratory from a moulding taken by your dentist. Later, the veneer is bonded to the tooth with resin.
ARE ALL FRONT TEETH SUITABLE FOR VENEERS?
No. Very heavily filled or blackened or root filled teeth may be unsuitable for veneers and more suitable for crowning. Because the veneer is very thin and porcelain is just a glass they can break. A careful assessment of the occlusion and biting forces needs to be done.
A LOT CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH BONDING
With very little tooth reduction, the replacement of old fillings, some bleaching and reshaping of the teeth and then having composite resin bonding a gratifying cosmetic result can be achieved quite cheaply. More importantly this technique is very conservative of tooth tissue.
